Why Use SnapFetchr to Download Facebook Reels?

Facebook Reels sit at facebook.com/reel/<id> and behave differently from the Watch clips and Live replays the main Facebook downloader also handles. They're vertical 9:16 shorts served from the same Meta CDN as Instagram Reels, which is why their quality is effectively identical — and why people who save Instagram Reels usually want the Facebook ones too. This page is scoped to that specific format: paste a Reel link and get the clean MP4, without wading through Facebook's other video types.

The reason Reels are awkward to keep is Facebook's UI. The native 'Save video' button only files the Reel inside your Facebook bookmarks, and there's no 'Show video URL' right-click on a Reel the way there is on a desktop Watch video. So the reliable path is the share sheet: open the Reel, tap the three dots, Copy link, and let the downloader resolve it — fb.watch short links and m.facebook.com mobile URLs included.

Audio is where Facebook Reels diverge from silent platforms like Pinterest: the soundtrack — music or voiceover — is part of the Reel and comes down inside the MP4 every time, unless the creator uploaded it silent. That makes Facebook Reels a good source for the same trend audio you'd find on Instagram or TikTok, in a clean, repostable file.

If your link turns out to be a Watch video, a Page upload, or a Live replay rather than a Reel, the broader Facebook Video Downloader is the right tool — it probes Facebook's progressive-MP4 and DASH pipeline for those longer formats. Use this page when you specifically have a Facebook Reel.

    Common Problems & Fixes

A Reel downloads but plays sideways

Some Facebook Reels carry orientation metadata that confuses certain players. Re-encode once in CapCut or VLC to rewrite the rotation tag and it plays upright everywhere.

The Reel link is an fb.watch short URL that won't resolve

fb.watch links can expire when the original post is removed. Open it in a browser first; if it doesn't redirect to a playing Reel, the source is gone.

    'This content isn't available'

The Reel is from a private group or restricted profile. Only public Reels can be downloaded — confirm it loads in a logged-out incognito window.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Reels are vertical 9:16 shorts from facebook.com/reel/ served on Meta's CDN, while Watch videos are longer, often horizontal clips on a different pipeline. This page targets Reels; use the main Facebook downloader for Watch, Page, and Live content.

Meta serves both from the same content delivery network, so a cross-posted Reel downloads at effectively identical resolution on either platform.

Yes. The soundtrack is part of the Reel and comes down inside the MP4, unless the creator originally uploaded the Reel silent.

A few Reels carry orientation metadata some players misread. Re-encode the file once in CapCut or VLC to fix the rotation tag.

No. Only public Reels are accessible. If the Reel won't load in a logged-out browser, it can't be downloaded.

Yes — fb.watch short links and m.facebook.com mobile URLs are resolved automatically, along with full facebook.com/reel/ links.
